thanks for reporting this bug. To be able to find the problem a bit more information is required. Could you explain a bit more about what you were doing. Was this an upgrade from edgy to feisty or a new install from a CD? It sounds like an upgrade tool rather than a new install. It would also be helpful if you could provide log files. If you were running an upgrade from edgy to feisty then the relevant logs will be in /var/log/ dist-upgrade. If this was an install from CD then the appropriate logs would be in /var/log/installer.
