Bug Description

amd64 system
Feisty Fawn
Logitech keyboard

Enabling numlock with the keyboard key doesn't actually enable numlock. The numlock light lights up fine, but the keypad still uses the base functions (home, end, insert, arrow keys) instead of using the numbers as it should. When enabling capslock after I've "turned numlock on", it turns off the numlock light. Capslock works fine.

this appears to have been fixed with a recent update. however, turning on capslock still turns the numlock button off. i just updated my system, but for some silly reason i forgot to check the updates, so i'm not sure what package changed that. i'm not sure which log file to look in - any thoughts?

it was already chosen as the keyboard layout.

so none of the methods to find the pid of the numlock key appear to work - they each just spit out a ton of whitespace. the console still functions and prints normally - it can cat files, etc. same goes for finding the manufacturer and product name and system-version. upon reflection, that makes sense, as i built the box (with a great deal of help). i would think the system-version would not be blank, however?

the problem now lies in caps lock turning numlock off when triggered. should i report this as a separate bug?

The title and the description basicly describe the problem you have now.
To answer your question, no.

Upon further inspection, numlock isn't actually disabled when pushing the caps lock button; just the light on the keyboard is turned off. So this is not as pressing an issue; however, it makes it a little ambiguous as to whether numlock is enabled or not. I'm not sure if this is restricted to the logitech access keyboard, but as I do not have access to other keyboards, I can neither confirm nor disprove that.

Well I can confirm that this doesn't happen on my fujitsu-siemens laptop.

I have a IBM Thinkpad 600x, when I first installed 7.04 the numlock light was on and numlock was on, I found a post on the forum to tell me how to turn it off, which fixed that, but now every time I press Caps Lock it turns the num lock back on again, also the light is permanently on.
