Bug Description

Using Kubuntu 6.10:

From adept refreshed the repositories and was prompted for an automatic update to 7.04. Accepted and all was going fine.

Upgrade downloaded all the packages and was going through the process of installing them when it got to the kernel and failed killing the update manager (it received a signal and just hung).

Tried to restart update but it complained that could not get lock to perform update and I could not seem to find process using it so rebooted system and it was dead (error on boot)

I realise that this isn't a great bug description but I have since installed Debian 4.0 on another free partition and mounted my /home onto this system so I still have the Kubuntu root partition in the state after the above crash so I can retrieve information/logs from it.

Regards
mark
