Bug Description

I'm running three systems on Feisty (one upgraded from Edgy, two set up from scratch). On all of these, sound output fails with KMPlayer.

There seems to be neither a basic hardware problem, nor a problem with the related sound driver: MP3-files are flawlessly played in Amarok. In Macromedia Flashplayer video files are played with sound, too. The required codecs (as from http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Codecs.html) including w32codecs are installed.

For example, when calling German news in RealMedia format on http://www.tagesschau.de/sendungen/0,,OID6669964_VID6670300_RESreal256_PLYinternal_NAV_,00.html, the video is shown - and even in very good quality, but without sound. (The same file has sound on a SuSE based system ;-) The KMPlayer console says:

callback is konqueror-7177 KMPlayerCallback-4
trying video driver xv ..
trying audio driver alsa ..

Great new problem solution strategy discovered: Known bug becomes "invalid" by sheer waiting (a lump one and a half year only) for expiry of support! Magnificent!
