Better IPMI documentation missing

Bug Description

Having just obtained a server which has an 'ipmi' interface, I would like to be able to use the system management facilities from my Ubuntu notebook.

The included documentation assumes a level of knowledge of ipmi, and a 'Getting started' document for starting out with ipmi would be very useful.

Thank you for taking the time to report this. I have seen IPMI implemented on Dell servers.

What specific documentation did you check and what did you find lacking ? What server are you using this with ?

This may be considered for future inclusion in the server guide:

I reviewed it some time ago and it has had some further updates up until May 2009, indicating the document is in use.
