[Feisty] Gparted causes crash of X

Bug Description

I installed Gparted (Gnome Partition Editor) from the official Ubuntu repositories, in Feisty Fawn 7.04. Whenever I start Gparted, my X crashes completely. Nothing works anymore: I have to use ctrl-alt-backspace.

I have found out, that the crash only happens when the "system monitor applet" is active on the lower panel. Possibly because both Gparted and this applet keep a check on the partitions on my hard drive?

The crash only happens on my new notebook, which has a SATA hard disk. Not on my older desktop PC, which has an IDE hard disk.

Feisty is not supported anymore.
