Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. With which specific version of the kernel did you notice this behaviour? Could you possibly test with the Gutsy Tribe 3 Live CD coming out later this week? Thanks in advance.

This broke in feisty - currently have 2.6.20-16-generic #2
I'll try the cd once I find time...

Tested with Tribe 4 - the dmesg reports no error anymore - although the device does not get mounted - could this be due to the live cd?

The Live CD should still mount your device. Please add the full output of 'dmesg' again after booting your system with the Live CD and then attaching your device. The full output of 'lsusb' when the device is attached would be helpful also. Thanks again!

Per a decision made by the Ubuntu Kernel Team, bugs will longer be assigned to the ubuntu-kernel-team in Launchpad as part of the bug triage process. The ubuntu-kernel-team is being unassigned from this bug report. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeamBugPolicies for more information. Thanks.

The 18 month support period for Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 has reached its end of life -
http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-7.10-eol . As a result, we are closing the
linux-source-2.6.22 kernel task. It would be helpful if you could test the
new Jaunty Jackalope 9.04 release and confirm if this issue remains -
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/releasenotes/904overview. If the issue still exists with the Jaunty
release, please update this report by changing the Status of the "linux (Ubuntu)"

which will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this
