Bug Description
The Python installed in Edgy is 2.4.4c1, a release candidate, not the production version of 2.4.4. This causes problems with build/install systems that detect available versions of Python, such as Zope3.
A production (final) version of 2.4.4 exists for Feisty:

There are a lot of other changes along with bumping from RC version to final that makes this a high risk, major change backport.
