launchpad says "you have been logged out" when i was logged *in*

Bug Description

I had logged out of launchpad and tried to edit a bug. It asked me for my papers at
https://bugs.beta.launchpad.net/+restricted-login
but then I'm returned to
https://bugs.beta.launchpad.net/
with a very strange screen showing "(i) You have been logged out" but also "Logged in as Martin Pool".

I can't reproduce it either, and though I remember it occurring I don't recall any other details.
