That entire page is in need of an update. If you need some help with it, I would be more than happy to do it for you seeing as I maintain the Kubuntu website release stuff as well as the docs :)

Is there a way to get the site source so I can modify and create a patch for you Matt?

No source required, just paste your text into a comment on the bug report and we can update the page.

truthfully you could just pull from the release page on kubuntu.org as well as a screenshot or 2. The screenshots need some loving as well iirc.

Bump!

This page is extremely outdated, mentioning incorrect things like "KDE version 3.5.5 is the current stable release" and historic facts like "Kubuntu 6.10 is the first distribution to include it". Kubuntu 6.10 hasn't been supported for about six months now and Kubuntu has changed a lot since then.

The screenshot ( http://www.ubuntu.com/files/u18/whole_kde.png ) also looks quite old and doesn't look anything like the default desktop in the latest stable release of Kubuntu (8.10).

I can't help but point out http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/478/ ...

Perhaps the Kubuntu link in the sidebar should just link to Kubuntu.org so this page would not have to be updated every 6 months.

Its painfully obvious that we're not getting it updated in its current state.

OK, I've updated the main screenshot and amended the text to remove version specific information. I'd love for someone to submit text or better screenshots for that page but what is there now is a big improvement.

This has *not* been fixed: take a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/products/WhatIsUbuntu/kubuntu . It has been saying

"Kubuntu received a new power management overhaul with the latest release. Guidance, the power management system, allows users to select various functions to control the power of their portable computing system, whether it is controlling the brightness of the display during low battery, locking the system upon closing the lid or controlling access to multiple batteries. "

for a long time. Every release seems to have a new power management overhaul. Does Kubuntu even use guidance now? It's not installed on my Kubuntu 9.10 (upgraded from 9.04) system, and I don't recall uninstalling it. The page still has some KDE 3 screenshots, though we've had 3 KDE-4-by-default releases.

The page has also been saying "Digikam is now included by default." for several releases. What's "now"?

Why doesn't the page mention actual new stuff in 9.10? Or any KDE 4 coolness in general?

Much of ubuntu.com got significant revisions around 9.10 release time - but looks like this Kubuntu page is insignificant. This page is an example of the oft-talked-about stepchild treatment that Kubuntu gets, as talked about here: http://blog.nixternal.com/2009.09.26/myth-of-the-blue-headed-step-children/
