Bug Description
Ubunutu 7.04 desktop i386 installation silently fails.
In the middle of installation the progress dialog just disappears. No error reports or anything.
After reboot it does not boot from HD (I guess the installation did not finish successfully)
Happened in VMware all defaults (read: easy to reproduce)
VMWare Server 1.0.2 running on Windows XP pro SP2
create a new VM, option are (all defaults):
- "Typical" configuration
- OS : Linux / Version: Ubuntu
- network : NAT
- disk size (not default) : 2 GB (allocate all space ON, splitting OFF)
- change emulated CD to mount the iso file ubuntu-
- start the VM
- boot the ubuntu CD
- on desktop doubleclick the Install icon and in the wizard
- language : leave as "English"
- time zone : leave as "New York"
- keyboard : leave "U.S. English"
- partitioning : leave as "Guided, use entire disk (sda)"
- doc&settings migration : none
- user : test/test/test , name leave as "test-desktop"
- click "Install" on last page
- progress dialog ("Installing system") appears
- wait until it vanishes ... (somewhere after 70% of completion)
