Installation fails on Maple compatible firmware (ppc64)

Bug Description

Trying to install feisty on a ppc64 based system with Maple compatible firmware fails with:

This is on a JS20/JS21 with firmware based on http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/power/pa-slof/. This is in preparation for a new firmware release.

Just for the record: the installation of the Fedora development release works without any problems.

If anyone is interested in getting ubuntu running on the upcoming open source release of SLOF I am happy to help.

The strange thing for me is that the kernel detects the correct STDOUT device "OF stdout device is: /ht/isa@8/serial@3f8" but is then also opening the VGA card "found display   : /ht/pci@7/vga@2, opening ... done".

The other problem is that the option recommended by yaboot "cli video=ofonly" is not working at all.

With "install video=ofonly console=ttyS0" it gets a bit farther:
