Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1132225/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Igor Maslennikov, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as:
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.18.1

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

Igor Maslennikov, did this problem not occur in a release prior to 14.04?

I had this problem from day one after I loaded Ubuntu in 2012. So it did occur prior 14.04. The problem improved over time, less missing characters. Howver it evolved a bit, now sometimes it produces multiple characters when I press a key instead of not producing one. It always happens when computer is brought back from the suspended mode. It goes away after a reboot. Thanks

Igor Maslennikov, which prior release(s) specifically did this occur in?

As well, could you please provide the missing information with the latest mainline kernel (3.19-rc2) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend ?

I believe I only had 12.04 prior to 14.04, which I have now. Is there any way to check it? Thanks

It is getting frustrated. I am wondering if it is related to this specific computer. Recently, I reinstalled Ubuntu and eliminated dual boot. I thought it fixed it and for a while it was working OK, I mean the missing characters after going to sleep. But now it is getting worse. It looks like the severity of this problem depends on how long the laptop being in the sleep mode - longer the worse. Help is needed. Thanks
