Package: gdm
Version: 2.6.0.4-1
Severity: grave

After updating to GNOME 1.8, gdm starting crashing horribly.....

I enabled debugging in /etc/gdm/gdm.conf, and the syslog shows that
apparently the greeter is dieing immediately right after it starts,
and then cycling indefinitely, or at least until the six times in 90
seconds sanity check kicks in. (Thank goodness for this, since
otherwise I wouldn't be able to get control of my system.)

Enclosed please find the syslog information.

Few days ago new gdm version - 2.6.0.6 entered to debian unstable.
Could you reproduce your bug with this version ? If gdm 2.6.0.6 starts
correctly on your system then please add tag "sarge" to this bug.

This problem has since disappeared when I upgraded to a newer versions
of gdm and/or some of the GNOME libraries. I'm not sure what was going
on, or what fixed it, but the problem is gone now.
