Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

When I've activated the "Drawing" toolbar (docked in the bar below) and I choose to insert a formula, after editing the formula, the drawing toolbar has disappeared. This actually happens with every toolbar that has been docked below.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. With which specific version of the openoffice.org package did you notice this issue? You can check using the command 'dpkg -l openoffice.org'. Additionally with which specific application in the OpenOffice.org suite did you notice this? Thanks in advance.

Hello Brian,

The version currently installed is 2.2.0-1ubuntu3. I noticed it in the
Writer application.

I would like to add to this bug that Writer has a quite annoying feature.
When I've inserted a picture or a table in a document, and I click the
table, a toolbar appears. When the toolbar is docked in the menubar above,
it flickers on/off when I select/deselect a table. This causes the
document that I'm currently editing to down and back up, down and back
up.. etcetera. If I choose NOT to dock the toolbar it will popup even
though I've closed it before. I used to work with Microsoft Word and it
remembers which toolbar has to be showed and which not.
I've searched through every possible option in Writer but wasn't able to
find where I could disable a toolbar.

greetings,
Joris

I found a similar Issue now. I think it appeared when OpenOffice was upgraded to 2.2.0-1ubuntu4 (swedish version) because I switched to Feisty.

My case was:
1. Check the menu item Show ->Toolbars -> Insert, so that "Insert"-toolbar appears.
2. Click the insert formula button (or from menu Insert -> Object -> Formula, so the formula editor opens and all toolbars change/hide (because of formula editing mode).
3. Type anything or nothing.
4. Click the main document to close the formula editor.
5. The usual toobars reappear, but (BUG) not the "Insert"-toolbar. There is a hole where I had it docked.

I have probably located the same bug at OOo's site: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=76662
It was marked as fixed July 6, 2007. But I don't understand in what version.
Can any Ubuntu-person tell me when that version will be found and installed via apt-get/Synaptic/Update manager ?
Is it advisable to download OO.org's latest version as a separate package and install to get rid of this bug?

I believe that this bug has been corrected in Ubuntu hardy openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 so I am marking it as Fix Released. If after upgrading you continue to have problems with this issue then feel free to reopen this bug.

Thanks,

Yes. I can confirm that my case from 2007-09-29 is solved. It probably has been solved for quite a while. Thanks, whoever did it!
