network-admin does not save gateway to /etc/network/interfaces

Bug Description

When switching to a static IP address, the gateway is not saved to
/etc/network/interfaces. When added manually, network-admin does not display
the gateway (but it doesn't overwrite it either).

I'm seeing this same behavior on kubuntu 5.10. If I try to set the gateway in the kde network configuration GUI, it acts like it's saving it but it doesn't actually save it. The next time that I open the GUI, the field is blank again.
