Bug Description

Binary package hint: acpi-support

In Feisty (and everything previous as far as I know) I had a problem with my Dell Latitude D610. The LCD doesn't come up after I open the lid. A double switch makes things only worse. According to some reference I cannot remember there is a BIOS bug that prevents the screen from coming around after the lid is opened.

I resolved the issue by adding 'echo 0x80000001 > /proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD/state' to the lid opening script.

Can you paste the output of:

  cat /var/lib/acpi-support/*-*

for your laptop please, so that it's possible to identify that particular machine when adding the workaround.

It's a BIOS bug. There's no real way to work around it sensibly - it should be fine in X.
