Hi,

where can I get this speedfan app?
Is it free to use, or do I have to pay for it?

http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php is a link to it. Crashing is never a good thing, but I don't know if this will ever actually _work_ on Wine, due to the fact that it controls hardware. I'll take a look when I get home.

I've looked at speedfan. It is basically lm-sensors technology ported to Windows.

The better approach is to install lm-sensors, sensorsd, and read-edid on your machine. It does require some setup, (basically, running a script so that the machine can detect what sensors you have and load the appropriate drivers).Once they are installed, you might need to install additional packages that relate to your particular hardware in order to control your fans.

Note that some hardware sensors flat don't work correctly, on any operating system. I myself have some servers with MTP008 sensors, which are so non-compliant that the manufacturer has completely stripped any mention of it from its website.

Happy Trails

I do have lm-sensors setup, but I was running Speedfan just for the hell of it. It's not very important that it works but some people may prefer it.

The latest version of speedfan along with the latest wine seems to start fine but it doesn't pick up any of my hardware. I guess this can be closed though
