Freeze checking contacts in Compose "To" field

Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

When attempting to enter address in the "To" field of the "compose" window, after three (or so) characters are entered, Evolution freezes and must be "force quit".

I assume it is attempting to check the contacts list; I am connected to an MS Exchange server.

This does not occur every time. There does not seem to be any pattern.

Thanks for your bug report. Please try to obtain a backtrace http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach the file to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem. What version of Ubuntu do you use?

I'm still trying to get a backtrace. It seems to be happening less
and less - it just happened for the first time since getting this
message.

I am using Ubuntu Feisty which I upgraded from Edgy.

Will send backtrace when I can reproduce the error under gdb.

Well, you do what you must.

It still occurs as described. I was loading the debugger every time I
started Evolution but that's quite time consuming. Of course as soon
as I stopped it did it again. (Now if there was some way to get the
debugger to load automatically for a particular application ...)

It may have something to do with the other error I get - "lost
connection to backend process".

It's definitely something to do with the connection to MS Exchange.

Kerry.

gdb should not slow down the application and you attach it when the application is frozen already
