Bug Description

The package xserver-xorg-video-i810 doesn't appear on gutsy repositories, but xserver-xorg-video-intel appear. I thought that I had to change it, but xserver not run. I reconfigured xserver-xorg (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg) to change the driver (i810 -> intel) but xserver not run either. I tried install xserver-xorg-video-i810 and I reconfigured xserver (intel -> i810) but xserver is blocked and it doesn't respond when pulse Ctrl+Alt+Fx.

If I change intel or i810 to vesa, I can run xserver. Any solution?

I have had to desinstalar xserver-xorg (and all the packages that needs it), to modify /etc/apt/source.list to use the repositorios of feisty and to return to install xserver-xorg. In addition, if I return to update, I have the same problem.

I cannot update xserver-xorg.

If I update xserver-xorg-core, I can't run xserver, but it doesn't happen any error either. The screen remains in black. I attach the Xorg.log

If I update only xserver-xorg-video-i810 (xserver-xorg-core is without updating), xserver causes an error. I believe that it's an error of dependencies. xserver-xorg-video-i810 would have to require xserver-xorg-core. I attach the Xorg.log

For a short time there we were shipping only the -intel driver (debian and upstream have obsoleted -i810). However, we've fixed things so both drivers can be installed at the same time.

Can you please update and upgrade to latest gutsy, and verify you can install both -intel and -i810, and that the dependency issues are resolved?

Also, if you encounter any issues running -intel that you don't have running -i810 after doing this, can you please make sure we have bug reports about them? Thanks!

I can install them without problems, but if I update the xserver then it doesn't run. The screen remains in black.

Can you upload your /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log files? It sounds like there is still some misconfiguration.

In your xorg.conf, please change the Driver "i810" to Driver "intel", and re-try.
