Bug Description

From Question 6507: I have successfully installed the driver for my Epson Stylus Photo 870 printer It prints, but I only see support for the most basic options (I'm using Kubuntu Feisty). Other distributions I've tried have provided options for a wide variety of normal and photo papers and different print resolutions, but the driver in Kubuntu only seems to support 2 sizes of plain paper at one print resolution. How do I add support for the other options ?

It appears that a very old or incomplete ppd file is supplied for this printer. If I replace it with a file from another distro (PcLinuxOS) there are many more options available. If I could figure how to attach a copy if that file, I would.

That's how I attach. Here's a sample of much more comprehensive ppd

The following PPDs are included in Feisty for your printer:
$ lpinfo -m | grep -i "photo 870"
gutenprint.5.0://escp2-870/expert/C Epson Stylus Photo 870 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0.99.1
gutenprint.5.0://escp2-870/simple/C Epson Stylus Photo 870 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.0.0.99.1 Simplified
foomatic:Epson-Stylus_Photo_870-Stp870p.upp.ppd Epson Stylus Photo 870 Foomatic/Stp870p.upp
You should be able to select the expert gutenprint driver which gives you all options.
Which of the above drivers did you install? Please provide the output of the printingbug info script, the printingbug info script can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrintingBugInfoScript.

This is a problem of the KDE Printing Manager. It does not show all PPDs. Already reported as bug 99372.
