grfx goes crazy after loading ubuntu

Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubuntu-xen-desktop
when i load Ubuntu from my windows xp, i reboot, loads up,, go to install start Ubuntu, it goes fine then i get big green bars showing and then it all goes pixelated like an old NES crash.... i donut know how to fix this and v7 wont work ether... do i have to format first or something like that? its version 6.06.1 but it wont let me select that for this :S
