Bug Description

Binary package hint: knetworkmanager

I have a laptop which packs an unsupported wireless modem that can be made to work with the help of ndiswrapper. After installing ndiswrapper and the windows driver, I can safely connect to my WLAN through the iw* commands. Unfortunately the knetworkmanager application does not offer any support for the WiFi network interface.

It would be nice if knetworkmanager could handle the network interfaces provided after the default install with the help of ndiswrapper.

Thank you for reporting this bug. In order to solve this problem it would be a great help if you could provide some more information.

Could you please confirm the manufacturer and model of both the laptop and the wireless modem, and also where you got the windows driver from.

Additionally it would help to know what version of kubuntu (ie is it 7.04) and knetwork manager you are running. If you could test whether this is still a problem under the current version (7.10) or the latest development version (8.04) that would be even better.

Thanks in advance.

Nowadays I will not be able to perform many tests on that laptop, as I gave it away a while back.

Nonetheless, it was an Acer Aspire 1524wlmi and it was running kubuntu 7.04. It was just the basic install, without many packages installed.
