LG L1740PQ monitor resolution not correctly detected

Bug Description

The LG L1740PQ monitor (17" LCD, 1280x1024) is not identified (Ubuntu configures it as "Generic Monitor") and defaults it to a non-native resolution of 1024x768. Videocard is a nVidia GeForce 7300LE made by MSI.

Current workaround is edit manually the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and replace resolution entries with "1280x1024" to force the correct resolution.

Can you please install and run displayconfig-gtk and check if your monitor is listed in its database? If not, please report your monitor's vertical and horizontal refresh frequencies and I'll add them to the database.

Thanks for your comments.

Bryce, displayconfig-gtk list doesn't contain an entry for my monitor.

Brian, I'm attaching xorg.conf in this comment.

Hernan, select Generic as your display, and then either "Plug 'n' Play", or one of the Flat Panel options.

From the Xorg.0.log I see that this is the same as bug 49827, so am marking it as a dupe.
