Bug Description

Binary package hint: fontconfig

I dist-upgraded to Gutsy tonight, and after a reboot, the fonts are +2 bigger than what they used to be. And the local.conf file has disappeared from /etc/fonts/.

Apparently, after the upgrade, the dpi was set to 120 all by itself instead of the previous default 96.

Yeah, it seems that the DPI autodetection is broken in Gutsy. Change the DPI on the font panel to match your monitor's and you should be fine. But yes, this is a bug that must be fixed.

Add this lines to the bottom of your /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom file:

[server-Standard]
command=/usr/bin/X -br -audit 0 -dpi 86

Mine personally went to '75' from '96'. It was frustrating to have this happen, especially along with the bug in Firefox where you have to set 'layout.css.dpi' to '0' instead of '-1'.

Is there a patch coming along?
