Bug Description

Binary package hint: akregator

When I try to close akregator in Ion3 I get a funny message dialogue informing me that the application will continue to run in the system tray - included in the dialogue is a screenshot of the top right hand side of my screen.

This is incorrect on two counts:

 * Ion3 does not have a system tray
 * Try screenshot assumes that I am running KDE and hence the output is misleading

I categorically state that it is not a prerequisite to run akreagtor from withing KDE and hence this behaviour is bogus.

If you think that it IS in fact a prerequisite then the debian/control file should depend on the KDE window manager and the application should additionally exit if it can tell it is not running under a KDE WM.

The screenshot says everything. However I am somewhat boggled, as I know Akgretor can only be closed out fully by alt+q or File->Quit. Pressing the X or close button does not quit Akregator, but as you know minimizes it to the system tray. The screenshot example the message provides is incorrect (and kind of funny).

I don't know about placing KDE in the "depends", but possibly in the suggests. Akregator is specifically created as a KDE RSS feed reader/aggregator, so I am unsure how long or how far this report will go. I will of course leave that up to the core-devs. I am going to set this as a "Wishlist" item and have someone else double check and see if it is a viable bug report. Thanks for the report.

Hm...
a) I think Akregator is detecing properly if a systray is avilable in it's KDE 4 version
b) I think even in earlier versions the window manager would have to declare that it is not free desktop compatible, which would also deactivate the systray
c) I doubt that Ion3 users really get confused by that picture.

Closing as won't fix, please file this for KDE directory on http://bugs.kde.org but I doubt they would want to implement either. Sorry.
