Binary package hint: nautilus

Using 7.04 final.
1) open nautilus, go to a location where the file you want to rename
2) suppose the old file name is "AFILE.txt"
3) press F2 and rename it to "AFILE." (dot include) then press Enter.
4) press F2 second time and rename it to "AFILE" (without dot) => a error message will display :"The name "AFILE" is aready use in this folder. Please, use a different name".

I'm unable to replicate this in 7.04. Are you sure you don't have an existing file with the same name?

Changed in nautilus:

i have a similar bug, the difference is that i can't rename a folder to the same name but different character status ( capital / small )
for example: say i wanna rename a folder named "Michael" to "michael" it gives the same error ["The name "michael" is already use in this folder. Please, use a different name"] i recall that i used to do this before but i don't remember before which update !

i even tried to rename the folder twice [ "Michael" --> "Michael2" --> "michael" ] , fortunately there was no errors but i found two folders "Michael" and "michael" and when when i refreshed only "Michael" was there.

i hope it gets fixed because it's really annoying

Quite the same error, and I repeated it on different folder :
- I have a folder named "2008 le Peuil"
- I have want to change "l" to "L" : refused "an folder with name ... already exists "
- I change name to "2008 Le Peuilxxx" : OK
- I change then to "2008 Le Peuil", as I wanted previously : OK

Nautilus as a problem with lowercase uppercase, and, apparently from 1st post, with"."

Hey Guys, i found out that this problems only occurs on the fat32 drives but not on ext3 , i don't know a lot about this but most probably it's something in functions that deal with windows file format
