Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I have noticed that, when I download an attachment from my Gmail account to be opened with OO directly, it works fine, but every time, when I close OpenOffice, it shows me an alert telling me that an error has happened with OO and it will try to recover some documents. If I click on "Accept", OO Writer opens a new window with and empty document. It has happened to me with .doc and .ppt files.

Thanks for your help,
Alberto

Thank you for your bug report.

This might be a duplicate of bug #90513, which is that if you open a powerpoint in fullscreen it works fine, but when you close OO and re-open any documents, the OO recovery document will appear. Also, if that's not your bug, can you reproduce it everytime? If yes how? Does it happen only with one specific document?

It's very similar to the bug that you refer, but you don't need to reopen
any document: when you close OO, the OO recovery document appear
automatically. And yes, it happens 100% of the times with .doc and .ppt
files. Yesterday, making tests, I found that, if you open a file and close
it rapidly, there is no problem. You have to wait a couple of minutes with
OO opened to see the problem. Maybe OO has an "autosave" feature, and it's
doing crazy things in Ubuntu?

I've tried to do what you say, but it's too complicated to me. Sorry. I'm
not a Linux specialist, and I don't understand the instructions in the link
you gave me.

I believe that this bug has been corrected in Ubuntu 7.10 OpenOffice 2.3.0. Can you please test the new version and let me know if it works for you?
