You have 2 mail addresses registered on launchpad, check there that a good email address is set as contact:

Yes, <email address hidden> is a good email address. I receive 30+ emails on it daily, but none from Launchpad. I don't even see an incoming connection on my postfix logs from Launchpad.

% cat /var/log/mail.log | grep -i launchpad
returns nothing.

Can you change the preferred email address of launchpad and check if you receive emails on this address so we can know if the problem is on the launchpad side or on your mailserver side.

I believe that it is a problem with Launchpad.
I also do not receive emails from Ubuntu Mailing lists any longer. It says that the emails have been bouncing. However, I continue to receive emails from _other_ Mailman lists.

There is a problem with configuration in the Ubuntu Mailman server, I am sure of it.

I did change my contact email address for you, though.

I see you've changed your active email address to <email address hidden>

Can you confirm whether you're receiving emails now?

I now receive mail, but this is not a fix. Mail still is not delivered to <email address hidden>

Tom Haddon (mthaddon) wrote :

I agree it's not a fix, but it shows that it's something specific to that email address (or mail host) that's causing the issue. My suspicion is either spam filtering or something to do with the mail server itself. I'll see if I can do some more investigation to confirm the mail is going out from our mail server.

I don't believe that it is something with spam, because I have yet to receive a message from launchpad on my mail server. I have never seen "launchpad" in the logs.

Our logs show that the outbound mail server was unable to find a valid MX record for smoothweb.net from the middle of May through the beginning of June. Tom Haddon tells me that on 4 June you changed your launchpad mail address.

I have verified that the outbound mail server currently sees a valid MX record for smoothweb.net, and that the system can speak to the mail server at that address. Could you try changing your launchpad mail back to this address and let us know if you still see the problem?

Hmm... That's odd. I updated the DNS records on May 15 I believe. I will set it back to the smoothweb address now, though.

I am not receiving email. I am going to update my DNS records again today, just to be sure.

I've updated my MX DNS records. I'll wait a bit for it to propagate (I am in the States, and I'm assuming the mail servers are in the UK) and then send another test message.

If you look here, you can see that I do in fact have proper MX records:
http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/lookup.ch?%26name%3Dsmoothweb.net%26type%3DMX

Domain Type Class TTL Answer

 smoothweb.net. MX IN 300 24.208.190.43. [Preference = 0]

 smoothweb.net. MX IN 300 24.208.190.43. [Preference = 10]

Paul, can you confirm whether you're still not receiving email from Launchpad having updated your DNS records?

Paul Williams (pwill) wrote :

Aha! I changed my DNS records (again) so that my MX record now points to an A name that then points to my IP, rather than having my MX record directly point to my IP, and now it works! Thanks for the help, Tom.
