Bug Description

Hi Every one,

I've just had my Nexus 4 and I wanna test Ubuntu touch in living condition for a day. So I set up the Alarm, but this morning... No alarm, nothing. (Fortunately, I used an other device as alarm clock in back up ;) )

It's a fresh install of 'Raring' Ubuntu Touch.

Is there some logs somewhere I can share with you guys ?

Thx in advance, for your work you did on Ubuntu touch, and the work you'll do

Best Regards,
Winael

Thanks for taking your time to report this bug. We are currently waiting on the platform API for the alarms to work. So at the moment what you see is basically the UI and a timer which checks if the alarm has gone out or not. Only after we connect the app to the platform API will it ask the phone to sound a ringtone.

So we were expecting the platform API for alarms at the end of June. Any word on what the status of this is?

@Mark, The platform API necessary to implement Alarms is not yet ready. The developer working on this is on holiday. So frankly, I cannot say when it will be done. You can track the progress of the Alarms Platform API at https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/sdk-system-alarm-api

Alarm API v0.1 is marked as completed which seems enough for basic alarm functionality.
Is there any progress on the clock side? I've been waiting for any kind of alarm functionality from the first release.

Nekhelesh, after a conversation with Zsombor from the SDK team, it seems that the Alarms API is already in a state to be used by the app. The big caveat though is that the Qt Organizer EDS backend to save alarms is not quite there yet.

We can no longer on the Alarms API. What I would suggest to move forward:

- Re-enable the Alarms page so that folks can test the UX.
- Integrate the Alarms API using the memory backend in Qt Organizer for now. This will not save alarms, but it will allow progressing with the Alarms API implementation.

@Mark, Peter and others, I have already started working on this. You should see the new alarms tab within this week end.

@Dpm, the old Alarms page design is outdated. I have received new designs for the alarm which I am currently implementing. Re-enabling the old page would not be useful. The new alarms page will land by the end of this week.

@Everyone following this bug, please note that everything that needs to be done from the clock-app's perspective has been implemented! However there are still some platform bits which needs fixing and implementing. They are some EDS bugs and also notification support. Without notification support you will not be able to see/hear anything when an alarm goes off. But I heard they are currently in the works. Will update bug report when I get more info.
