Bug Description

Steps:
- download pc386 alternate install cd
- install in text mode
- boot

Due to grubs quiet splash directive all I can see is the blank screen.
usplash is installed. reinstalled it, purged and reinstalled it and still no go

Alternate install for edgy also showed the same problem.
dmesg and all logs in /var/log do not show any messages related to usplash.

Thanks for your bug report and for your contribution to ubuntu. Can you give more explanations about your actual problem? Is usplash completely missing once you have installed ubuntu with the alternate CD or during the installation?

Usplash is installed correctly. Synaptic does not show any problems, all the files listed are there. It simply does not show up. I get a blank screen on boot.

However it appears that this problem does not happen on gutsy and hardy, so I am not sure if it is even worth it to investigate.

Thanks.

Thanks for your confirmation! According to the fact that bug can't be reproduced with latest Gutsy or Hardy release, I set the status to fix released. However, if you can still reproduce this bug with the latest ubuntu release, please feel free to re-open it. Thanks for your contribution to ubuntu.
