webcam stops working once I install any sofware , update or restricted driver. The webcam is Vimicro301 Neptune

Ubuntu 7.04 for 64-bit , xubuntu 7.04 for 32-bit, xubuntu 7.04 64-bit
Webcam: Vimicro301 Neptune
Problem only appears in installed sistem not in live cd.

Version 7.04 Feisty
USB Webcam Somikon USB PC Camera (Vimicro 301 Neptune)

apt-get just about every package for webcams on linux in the hopes...
sudo apt-get install kopete
sudo apt-get install amsn
sudo apt-get install ekiga
easycam2... camorama...

no luck getting a driver to work for this cam. yet :)

Ok, it worked with

apt-get install camstreams

then launch camstreams from terminal

and the Vimicro 301 Neptune driver shows up!

great resolution...
