Bug Description
I am trying to set up my laptop to print on a couple of networked printers, both through LPD. In the gnome printer app, the Host and Queue fields (under the Connection tab of the Properties dialog) behave very strangely.
If I put
printers.foo.bar
in the host field, and
printroom
in the queue field (which I think is the correct setup), and then go back and look at the printer properties, it has just the Host field and nothing in the Queue field.
If I put
printer.
in the Host field and nothing in the queue field, close it and go back, it now has
printers.foo.bar
in the Host field and
printroom/
in the queue field.
So I have to give the "wrong" input to get the right output.
Other issues: I added a printer, and it didn't show up in the gnome dialog, so I added it again. However, it turns out that it did get added, it was in the printers.conf file, and I could see the old one, but not the new one, in the OpenOffice print dialog.
I manually deleted the old one from printers.conf, but I could *still* see it in OpenOffice, even though I restarted cupsd (using kill -HUP), and OpenOffice.
Even if I print to a printer that looks correctly set up, I get either the "paused" message, or job-hold-
What a mess.. This was really easy to set up in my previous linux installation (which was not ubuntu) :(
