Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-6-generic

When I boot up in Linux 2.6.20-16-generic, NetworkManager connects my ipw3945 to my (128-bit WEP) access point immediately. In 2.6.22-6-generic, it usually takes 30-60 seconds, but it can also happen immediately or it can timeout after 120 seconds. I'll attach log fragments of the relevant sections of my /var/log/syslog, formatted with empty lines so that you can clearly see where they diverge if you line them up next to each other.

FWIW, this problem still occurred in 2.6.22-8, but it has disappeared with 2.6.22-9.

Strike that. It still happens, it just didn't happen for a couple of boots. I've moved back to 2.6.20-16 for now...

I've been waiting to report this just to make sure, but the problem has disappeared since a kernel upgrade from a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I get perfect (faster than with 2.6.20) access point associations. As far as I'm concerned this bug may be closed.
