No right-click character information with desktop effects

Bug Description
Binary package hint: gucharmap
Normally, when right-clicking on a charater, a bigger version is shown in a floating box with additional font information.
When desktop effects are turned on (i.e., when running compiz), this doesn't work. I noticed a quick flash in the tasklist, as if a new window was open for a very short time. Maybe this gives some hint about compiz dealing with the floating information window?
