Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

... Firefox and gnome apps seg fault in KDE

I am running Kubuntu Fiesty (on top of an Ubuntu install).

I also added the Kubuntu KDE 3.5.7 repo recently, upgraded. Now I removed the repo but I don't believe the apps have "downgraded."

When in KDE and my uptime for the computer is over about a day I start to get seg faults (with core dumps) when trying to start Firefox, VLC, and some gnome apps (I think all the ones I try to load).

The only error message given when these apps are in run in the Konsole is Segmentation Fault, core dumped.

Thank you greg_g for your report.

Is the firefox crash reproducible? I mean, is there a step by step way to reproduce it? Please try to force again the crash after disabling the third party extensions you have installed.

For the other reports, you should open a different task for each one.

Thank you in advance.

[Sorry for late response, I am in the process of moving to a different state.]

The crash is not reproducible by force, from what I can do right now. I will be able to do more this weekend. I will try timing how long it takes from boot-up to experience this problem next boot-up (problem install is not plugged-in yet). I will also keep track of what programs I opened/are open before the problem appears.

Should I link to the other reports from here and vice versa since they seem to be related?
