Binary package hint: ksynaptics
My synaptics touchpad worked great in Feisty. I don't like the default behavior so I use ksynaptics to manage the touchpad. In gutsy, with ksynaptics 0.3.3-2ubuntu1, xorg 1:7.2-3ubuntu3, and xorg-driver-fglrx 7.1.0-8.

I don't think the patch would affect this, but I don't really know.
I have disabled tapping, but sometimes tapping still happens. The scroll area on the right covers 1/4 of the touchpad. The horizontal scroll doesn't work at all.
