mtr wants to remove ubuntu-base

Bug Description

I can't install mtr without uninstalling ubuntu-base:

root@transwarp:/home/johan # LANG= apt-get install mtr
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libglib1.2 libgtk1.2 libgtk1.2-common
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  mtr-tiny ubuntu-base
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libglib1.2 libgtk1.2 libgtk1.2-common mtr
0 upgraded, 4 newly installed, 2 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 1210kB of archives.
After unpacking 3052kB of additional disk space will be used.

Abort.

I would like to install mtr without uninstalling ubuntu-base.
