I just got an answer from the support at OpenOffice.org:

[quote]
This is not reproducible with native OOo for Linux.
This is a problem of your certain Linux distribution, ubuntu running the
by-packed OOo build. In this case, please refer to the distributors support or
even run the native OOo builds which can be downloaded from Openoffice.org.

I'm using BrOffice and Kubuntu.
Open a new text doc and insert a rectangle. Now insert a clipart from the gallery. It is not possible to group the two objects.
Do the same inside a new drawing doc. Now it is possible to do a grouping.
Yet copy this group to the text doc. Do the ungroup. Now the two objects are good for a new grouping. There must be something missing, or turned off, to the objects when inserting direct in the text doc.

Thank you

Auri
