Bug Description

Here is a sumup of the bug.

My home folder is located on an ext3 partition, and the partition where I try to copy the files is fat32.

When I try to copy this folder : /home/vivien/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/.inbox.directory/.My friends.directory/N.Fréd/cur
I get an error message telling me that writing on the partition is impossible with the name of the file.

To be able to copy this folder, I create an archive, I copy it on my fat32 partition and decompress it.

I had the same bug with folders containing subfolders and files with special characters, without any hidden files or folders.

Test made on Kubuntu Feisty

I just want to update the post, because the bug persists in gutsy and hardy.

Good morning,

I have a fat32 usb drive that i have not had any issues copying from my ext3 to the drive. I wonder if it is just the hidden folders/special characters it is having problems with.

I am able to copy files from one partition to another under both hardy and intrepid.

I'm not having a problem either. I think we should just close this bug and reopen it if the problems reoccurs with Intrepid or later.
