Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-new

If I plug my laptop (screen res 1280x800) to an external monitor (res 1280x1024), enable twinview (whereupon all the resolutions are correct), then log out and log back in, the res on the laptop screen is reset to 1024x768. I can then go into nvidia-settings, reconfigure it to what it should be, hit apply, it'll be correctly set. If I then log out and log back in again (which I have to do due to getting a black bar on the right of the right (external) screen), it remains correctly set.

Thank you for your bug report.

Eythian:
Can you indicate whether you were running nvidia-settings with root privileges so it would be able to update /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?

I came across the same misbeheaviour on a desktop with an nvidia 6600 card: after changing resolution I have to run Synaptic and reinstall the nvidia-glx package, after this voodoo like procedure the resolution stays as set even after log out.

Whoops, dropped this one. I wasn't running nvidia-settings as root. However, this issue is now being covered up due to the whole X-server being restarted on logout, so pretty much nothing is saved between logout and login.
