Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.22-6-generic

Due to a change in kernel 2.6.22 line, the shutdown scripts must be updated in order to prevent double spinning down hard disks on power down. Now the hard disk is spanned down by the kernel, and after a second turned on again and spanned down by the shut down script and then the computer powers down. I have confirmed this issue on a number of computers 32/64 bit.

Invalid.

Our shutdown scripts have never behaved as described in this web page.

In fact, we've been in contact with the linux-ata group, and took an active role in defining the current behaviour on the website you give in your report.

Hmm I think don't quite understand...
So your saying that this "double spinning down" on power down is something that should happen and is OK?
