Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

In Beryl under Feisty (did not have this problem in Edgy), Totem (both totem-xine and totem-gstreamer) always crashes upon launching any kind of media file. If I run "totem" simply, I get the regular startup window and logo, but if I open a file, either with the command line or open-file dialog, it instantly crashes. Needless to say, the mozilla plugin is doa as well. I get this output:

The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
  (Details: serial 48 error_code 11 request_code 141 minor_code 19)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

Totem seems to work ok in Metacity. I'm using an Intel 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics controller and i810 driver in an Acer Aspore 3690 laptop.

Thanks

Beryl is replaced by Compiz Fusion, so has been removed from Gutsy.

Out of curiosity, does this mean that Beryl is no longer maintained in Feisty? Is only Gutsy getting bug fixes?

For the record, I upgraded to Compiz Fusion (Trevinho's repository) with Feisty and I still have the same problem. Maybe this is still invalid, as it is not an official Ubuntu repository, but maybe it's still worth reporting that totem is unusable with this version of compiz.
