Bug Description

My Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP monitor is not recognized and I therefore has to configure it manually. This is of course a no-go for a non-techie.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Could you please add your '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' file and your '/var/log/Xorg.0.log' file as attachments to your bug report? Thanks in advance.

Is there documentation on how one should configure X for a new monitor in general? As you can see from the attached /etc/X11/xorg.conf, I had a Dell 1908FP working just fine when my 2407WFP arrived. I couldn't find instructions on how to properly switch over, so just tried it, and eventually got it working, but at only 1280x1024, which is too low for a 24 inch monitor -- it's supposed to do 1920x1200.

Here's my /var/log/Xorg.0.log, for what it's worth.

This page may be of some assistance - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingXAutoconfiguration . Basically, you need to run through the monitor detection process again.
