Bug Description

Question to all those who have over worked CPUs, I have again had to shut down "APP-GET" as it was using 87% of my CPU.
I had put it to sleep and now I have "STOPPED" it.
Use system monitor to look at CPU use, open the process and see if app-get is running. If so, turn it off to see if that solves the problem.

OK. Apt-get doesn't normally run all the time. Are you talking about while you are doing an installation?
What release?
Ubuntu or Kubuntu?

Ubuntu, and that is the problem, it is trying to tun once turned on.
I was fine until I began the install of Ubuntu 7.04. I got to the
partition question and it said I would wipe out all my data, so I quit
the install. Something changed Apt-get, once turned on it just runs and
uses 80+ % of the CPU. So as soon as you run a big app, or several
smaller ones, the program your trying to run freezes or slows way down.

It sounds like you have a problem with your system being partially upgraded. This really isn't a bug issue, but a support question. Please ask about this at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/
