PS3 Fiesty: Running X Windows on a system with huge tables enabled causes massive disc thrashing

Bug Description

On an up-to-date install of Feisty on PS3, enable huge tables with:

    mkdir -p /huge
    echo 10 > /proc/sys/vm/nr_hugepages
    mount -t hugetlbfs nodev /huge
    chown root:root /huge
    chmod 777 /huge

When X (or the Gnome session) starts, the hard disc will begin thrashing, top reports 99% CPU time spent waiting for IO completion, and the system grinds to a halt.

Disabling X (ie, booting into console mode) with huge tables enabled no such behaviour is observed (huge tables work, no disc thrashing).

I have no idea what's going on, but could you try with 7.10 if it's any better?
