firefox 1.5.0.12 misparses listings from microsoft ftp service

Binary package hint: firefox

When using Firefox 1.5.0.12 (on Ubunti 6.06.1 LTS) to connect to a ftp server running the Microsoft FTP Service, the year column is misinterpreted in quite an embarassing way. Embarassing, as it looks like firefox had an Y2K-issue of correctly using year strings.

The ".104"-files really are from 2004.

When using netkit-ftp or lftp, both display the year colum "correctly":

I'm not able to reproduce that behavior. Please upgrade to latest firefox version in Ubuntu 6.10 (2.0.0.4+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.10) or do a full upgrade to current ubuntu release (7.04). If you still have this problem with updated packages please reopen this report.

I've run into this problem on the Microsoft FTP site. For example, when I view ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Products/mspress/samples using Firefox under Linux, some of the dates show up as 02/08/107, but when I view the same URL using Firefox under Windows, the dates don't show up at all.

I've attached screen shots from Firefox 3.0.10 under Linux (Ubuntu 8.10) and Firefox 3.0.8 under Windows (Server 2003), as well as IE 7.0.5730.13 under Windows for comparison.
