Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, apport is not currently configured to report bugs in
Gutsy. Therefore could you try to obtain a backtrace following the
instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach
the file to the bug report. Alternatively, you could wait for a newer
version of the kernel and then follow the same steps to reproduce the
bug.

hello, i use ubuntu 7.10, 64bit
often after having logged in in the gdm, the system freeze at the moment when i can see the background.
so if during the loading period till the background i change the tty, and make gdm restart i can start it normally.
but then there is this error with compiz.real. but my compiz.real works great, with all its effects.
i am sure there is something common with this errors an compiz because when i start gdm without compiz (with nv in the xorg.conf)
there are no errors.
the same error is when i try to shutdown or restart the notebook. it freeze sometimes

thanks for fixing the bug. ubuntu is a very nice os!!

Which particular version of compiz do you have installed at this point in time? You can check via 'uname -a'. Thanks in advance.

I'm running Gutsy too and had this problem. In my case it happened when I restarted the x-server. Compiz doesn't work on my computer.

I've attached the crash report.

Now I can run Compiz but it is very unstable, and some things disappear, like window borders and cube caps. Running in terminal shows that in warnings and also tells i have no GLX, but glxinfo in terminal shows everything is Ok about that.

Now i noticed something, borders missing does not mean they are not, in fact when you put the mouse in the place where is supoussed the close button in the top right corner is, a close refference appear. What I guess is that the borders are there but I can see because they got ( call it ) transparent or invisible. Hope it helps.
