New message does not appear in the app once an old coversation with that contact is deleted

I send a message to my Ubuntu phone from another phone and I can see the message in the messaging app but once I delete the conversation thread with that contact (with swipe) any new message from that number won't appear in the messaging app. I can see the notification but there is nothing in the app. Killing and starting the app does not work only restarting the phone will work.

1. start the messaging app
2. send a messaging from another number to Ubuntu phone and wait for the message to appear
3. delete that thread with a swipe
4. send another message

What happens:
I see a OSK notification but no message appears in the messaging app

What should happen:
The message should be in the app.
