Empty CD not recognized if inserted before login

Bug Description

Kubuntu/Feisty:
I insert a blank CD in the drive. When I log in, there is no CD icon on the desktop. If I eject the CD and reinsert i, the icon appears just fine.

Could you please confirm if it also don't appear in "Places -> Computer"?

I use Kubuntu. Not Ubuntu (as my very first sentence says). But in the "Storage Media" window, the CD does indeed appear with a nice CD-icon. Apparently it is just the desktop that miss the icon.
